On October 6th I did something really rare for me. I met with a group of complete strangers (photographers) from Google+ and went on a photo walk. It was a TOTAL blast. six of us headed out from the Driskill hotel and went around town taking random shots of whatever caught our eye. We eventually went downtown to catch the Occupy Wall-Street Austin Edition protest and got some great shots there as well. The following two images are from this walk. The first image is (I have to admit) a copy cat image. I was walking near Austin’s Lotus Carroll and saw her shoot down an alley. She caught a really nice view of an Austin high-rise, so I had to take the shot (Thanks Lotus!)

Down The Alley
The next image is of a protester from the OWS Protest. He was protesting the protesters over his loud speaker in his Lincoln Towncar. He was blocking traffic and having a debate with protesters (who were taking a break drinking a beer) so it was animated. I grabbed this shot while he was going back and forth with them. Shots like these remind me why I liked journalistic photography. People are interesting to shoot.

Protesting the Protesters
The entire time was great. Fun people to hang out with, great conversation and some really nice photos have come out of this event. If you are on Google+ search for Austin Photowalks and you can see more by the other really talented photographers that went on the walk.

[...] Occupy Wall Street is quickly becoming a world-wide movement to bring down the current system. The list of demands is evolving into something that hopefully will be for the better good of the majority of us humans. Here you will find images that are representative of the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) global movement. Hey there! Someone in my Myspace group shared this website with us so I came to give it a look. I’m definitely enjoying the information.
